About the Festival

MyDance Festival 2013

Where is the one place where you can catch the best of Malaysian dance?

SHOW OFF! – the Fifth MyDance Festival – brings you the highlights from the local dance scene. This is a great opportunity to experience Malaysia’s finest dancers showing what they do best, whether it is classical, contemporary, folk, ballroom or Latin, butoh or hip hop.

The use of new technologies has made it even easier to capture and show off our moves, so this year’s festival has a focus on dance photography and dance for film and video. Check out the dance photography exhibition and dance films screenings, and maybe you too will be inspired to pick up a camera!

There are lots of opportunities for everyone to show off during the festival. If you already have dance experience, why not take part in our unique masterclasses led by accomplished artists for a taste of something new? Even if you are new to dance, come strut your stuff in our flash mob medley.

The festival is also an opportunity for local dancers to meet each other, to share a conversation or share a stage, and to build friendships and creative partnerships. By showing off to each other, we hope to spread goodwill and deeper knowledge and understanding, for a stronger Malaysian dance community.
